Arms transfer controls

Each week, conventional weapons kill thousands of people around the world.

Irresponsible arms exports have a massive human impact and can:

  • contribute to internal repression
  • undermine development
  • facilitate human rights abuses
  • fuel and sustain conflict

What we do

We work with partners and governments to strengthen arms transfer controls and to make governments more open and transparent about arms sales.

We are also working with partners to build support for an international Arms Trade Treaty. This would ensure common global standards for arms transfers and help prevent weapons falling into the wrong hands.
